About Us

A Decade of African Fashion Excellence

Thohoyandou Fashion Week began in 2016 as a bold experiment: a stage for Limpopo’s designers to be seen, celebrated, and taken seriously on their own terms. Ten years later, TFW has grown into one of the region’s most anticipated fashion platforms, drawing designers, models, media, and fashion lovers from across South Africa.

We started TFW because talent shouldn’t need to leave home to be discovered. Limpopo has always had the creativity, what it needed was a platform. Every runway, every showcase, every partnership we build exists to close that gap between raw talent and real opportunity.

Unlike larger fashion weeks built around established names, TFW is built around discovery. We give emerging designers the same runway, the same spotlight, and the same audience as our most established names because we believe the next generation of African fashion deserves a real stage, not just a seat in the audience.

Our Impact

10 Years in the Making

What started as one idea in Thohoyandou grew into a decade-long movement for African fashion. From a single stage to a name recognized across Limpopo, TFW has spent ten years giving designers, models, and creatives a platform to be seen. Here’s how that journey unfolded, year by year.

2016

Where It All Began

TFW held its very first show, giving Limpopo designers a runway of their own for the first time. It was small, but it was proof that Thohoyandou had a place for fashion and that this was only the beginning.

2017

The Crowd Kept Growing

Word had spread. TFW’s second year drew bigger crowds and bolder energy than its first, filling seats with people eager to see what local designers could do. It was the first real sign this wasn’t a one-off, it was becoming something people looked forward to.

2018

Thulamela Fashion Show

The journey moved beyond Thohoyandou. TFW carried its runway to Thulamela, bringing Limpopo fashion to a new audience and proving the show could grow past its original home without losing what made it special.

Taking It to the Open Air

No walls, no limits. TFW took its runway outdoors, trading the stage for open sky and showing that the show could adapt to any setting as long as the fashion and the energy were there.

2019

Beyond the Runway

As the years went on, TFW grew into more than fashion. Music, lights, and celebration became part of the experience, turning each show into a full night rather than just a walk down the runway
